RÉSUMÉ

The Mahler measure of a polynomial is a concept wich appears naturally in several different contexts, for example, as a height function, as the entropy of certain dynamical systems, etc. In this talk I will discuss how it is also related to special values of L-functions associated to the variety defined by the polynomial.
