Project A1: Numerical Solution of the Navier-Stokes-Korteweg system

We consider the  local and nonlocal versions of the Navier-Stokes-Korteweg system (NSK-system) that govern the compressible dynamics of a two-phase flow undergoing dynamical phase transitions. In the  project we develop, implement and validate a numerical scheme to solve initial boundary value problems for the  NSK-system in multiple space dimensions.
The basic discretization method consists of a Discontinuous-Galerkin method in combination with Riemann-solver free fluxes. To achieve the required efficiency we make use of self-adaptive grids control led by error indicators.
