Applications of multiplicative ergodic theorems to environmental data

Starting from basic properties of Markov chains, we study some simplified models of ocean mixing. I will discuss the use of satellite data as in input to these models to locate gyres, regions of the ocean that mix very slowly. This can be seen as a prequel to my analysis seminar on the multiplicative ergodic theorem, so that the work that waspresented in that seminar was directly motivated by these applications.
