«Explicit methods» cover all effective, concrete, aspects of number theory. Besides algorithmic number theory proper, we include all researches in arithmetic using experiments or computations on digital computers, or simply motivated by complexity theory. Bordeaux is a huge number theory center, which historically was created around these algorithmic and experimental themes.

Henri Cohen has been the driving force behind these themes (creating with his team the computer algebra system Pari/GP). On the occasion of his retirement, we are organizing an international conference in Bordeaux around those explicit arithmetic subjects dear to Henri's heart.

Adress for the conference:

Institut de Mathématiques de Bordeaux
Université Bordeaux I
351, cours de la Libération
33405 Talence

Scientific Comittee:

Manjul Bhargava (Princeton), Noam D. Elkies (Harvard), Hendrik Lenstra Jr. (Leiden), Don Zagier (Collège de France & MPIM Bonn).

Organizers:

Karim Belabas (Bordeaux), Jean-Marc Couveignes (Toulouse), Denis Simon (Caen).
